What Is Niche In Affiliate Marketing?

Wondering “what is niche in affiliate marketing“? A “Niche” is a topic or area which an affiliate chooses; often which reflects their interest or passion. There’s many niche’s within affiliate marketing and your choice of topic/niche will in some way determine your level of success as an affiliate.

As an example, golf might be a niche for affiliate marketing for a golf enthusiast. They would create content, a website and a series of emails which helps golfers improve their game, for example. Through their content they will also promote affiliate products which relate to the golfing niche. When people find their content and buy products through their affiliate links, they earn commissions based on the sales they make.

what is niche in affiliate marketing

Depending on the marketing strategy which an affiliate uses, they might choose one “niche” over another. For example the “money making online” niche is really competitive. So it can be difficult to get your content found in this niche because of all the competition on the internet.

What Is Niche In Affiliate Marketing – A “Niche” Website

Many affiliates will attract an audience by building a niche website in their particular topic area. This website, for example, is in the niche of affiliate coaching. Often affiliates will choose a niche within a niche in order to target a more specific audience with their content. Affiliate coaching, for example, is a niche within the “money making online” niche.

Using the golf niche as an example, a sub-niche of golf could be any of the following:

  • Golfing for seniors
  • Golfing tourism / travel
  • Competitive golfing
  • Golfing for children
  • Specific aspects of golf (i.e putting)
  • Golfing news
  • Pro golfing commentary / discussion

The benefit of choosing a sub-niche for an affiliate marketer is that they will find a audience which has less competition. This is especially useful if you are attempting to get free website traffic to a blog/website. With a sub-niche, or a niche within a niche, there’s less competition on the search engines (Google etc), and so the website has more chance of attracting traffic/visitors.

What Is Niche In Affiliate Marketing – Popular Niches For Affiliates

There’s many niches which affiliates will choose in order to make money from the internet. However, not all affiliates will be successful and many will quit. See affiliate marketing failure rate. So your choice of niche is pretty important if you’re going to be successful. Here’s a few popular niches for affiliate marketers:

  • Hobby Niches – Photography, Travel, Sports betting, Event Tickets, Casino
  • Money Niches – Debt Settlement, Bitcoin, Investing, Credit card, Mortgage
  • Health and Fitness Niches – Weight Loss, Fitness, Yoga, Organic, Nutrition, Vegan
  • Lifestyle Niches – Luxury, Cruises, Travel, Online dating, Airlines, Fashion, Jewellery
  • Home & Family Niches – Home security, Coffee, Baby products, Dogs, Gardening
  • Tech Niches– Web hosting, WordPress, VPN, SaaS, Gaming, Software
  • Alternative Niches – CBD, Marijuana, Essential oils, Herbal, Personal development

Evergreen Niches – Niches Which Make Money All Year

Evergreen niches are those niches or topics which are continually profitable for affiliate marketers. Some niches are more seasonal such as Christmas, Halloween and other holiday related niches. The top main evergreen niches are often considered to be health, wealth and lifestyle. But these three main niches can be again divided into many sub-niches.

The Health niche can include products and programs in nutrition, exercise, weight gain, weight loss, mental health, quit smoking and a whole host of other related items.

The Wealth niche can include money making online, Forex marketing, affiliate marketing, Bitcoin, personal finance, debt reduction, finance tips, mortgage advice etc.

Lifestyle niches can include multiple products and services too: lifestyle businesses, self improvement, time management and other things like that.

Choosing A Niche As An Affiliate

If you’re considering becoming an affiliate marketing, there’s lots of choice for your niche. It’s worth therefore taking some time to think about the niche you have most affinity with. Some niches are super competitive and so it’s much harder to get traffic to your website in these niches.

There’s other ways of generating website traffic though as an affiliate and depending on your business model, you can also use paid marketing to advertise with. See affiliate marketing business models.

If you’re interested in, and passionate about your topic of choice, or niche, it can be much easier to sustain the levels of commitment needed to create a profitable affiliate business. Choosing a topic you don’t care about can mean you have less enthusiasm for your business. When things don’t go well, it can be easier to quit with such a choice.

See also best micro niche for blogging.

Good advice is to choose a niche which you love. If you love your topic in affiliate marketing, creating content is so much easier.

Summary

So, what is niche in affiliate marketing? A “niche” is an area or topic which the affiliate chooses to build their affiliate business around. By creating content in their chosen topic, running adverts, and offering value, they can build an audience with which to promote affiliate products which match their topic. Some affiliates will build niche websites which offer information on their chosen topic. This website, for example, is a “niche website” built around the topic of affiliate marketing coaching.

Other affiliates might run paid advertising instead to draw an audience into their sales funnel. To learn more about affiliate marketing, access a free video series by clicking on the image below.

What Does An Affiliate Marketer Do?

Are you wondering “what does an affiliate marketer do“? An affiliate’s job is to sell affiliate products online. This can be done in a number of ways according to the strategy an affiliate uses. Some affiliates are bloggers whereas other use video. Some affiliates run paid advertising and others create online content. Videos, blog posts or social media platforms can all be used to attract an audience.

Most affiliates will however build an email list of subscribers. This is so they can automate an email marketing campaign and send out emails “en-mass” to an ever growing audience. To build their email list they provide some kind of value driven content (or run ads) in order to encourage people to join it. Here’s an example of an ebook I created to help people learn about affiliate marketing. It’s also known as a “lead magnet” because I give it away when people join my email list.

An ebook can be used to build a list of subscribers for affiliates to promote their products to.

What Does An Affiliate Marketer Do?

Not all affiliate marketers create content like this, though. Some affiliates aren’t interested in blogging or creating their own content. They join affiliate programs which give them ready made content which they can use. They can then run paid advertising campaigns promoting that content.

Many affiliate programs offer products, images, video content and even pre-built email marketing campaigns which are already set up to help the affiliate. The affiliate only needs to set up their systems for selling online, and promote it through paid marketing. This can still take some time, but with pre-made sales materials it can be a lot simpler than creating lots of content yourself.

Learn more about this in the video (click on image below).

What Do Affiliate Marketers Do – Email Marketing

An autoresponder is key to success for an affiliate marketer; most successful affiliates will use one. An autoresponder allows affiliates to collect email details from prospective customers and build a relationship with them over time.

From a website, a visitor only has a small amount of time to buy something. But once someone has entered their email address into a landing page or website, the affiliate can follow up with them, emailing them regularly. This process can be automated; email autoresponders can be programmed to send out messages over weeks, months and even years.

what does an affiliate marketer do

Once someone enters their name and email into a form on a website, this process starts automatically. The affiliate marketer simply builds the systems which do the selling for them in an automated way. The affiliate might test and measure out their messages to see how well their system works. Often affiliate marketers will cross test their email systems with a set number of subscribers to determine which ones work the best.

Once they find a winning email marketing campaign which works, they can leave it running and concentrate on driving traffic into their automated sales funnel.

What Does An Affiliate Marketer Do? – Traffic Generation

One of the main activities which affiliate marketers do is driving traffic towards their sales funnel. A sales funnel is a landing page which collects subscriber’s information and delivers automated email messages with affiliate products attached. Here’s an example of what a landing page looks like:

the landing page
A landing page to collect subscribers information and offer a free ebook! Click here to visit.

Once a sales funnel is set up, it’s all automated. So you only need to drive targeted traffic into it in order to generate sales of your affiliate products. This can done through multiple different strategies. Not every affiliate chooses the same path:

  • Blogging – creating written content on a website. See how to earn money through blogging.
  • Video blogging – Uploading videos to YouTube or TikTok, for example.
  • Social Media platforms – both free and paid options are available.
  • Paid marketing platforms – Adwords, Facebook, YouTube etc.

This article is an example of a blog post. By writing many blog posts and targeting specific keywords, bloggers can attract an audience from multiple different platforms:

  • Organically through the search engines: Bing, Yahoo, Duckduckgo and Google
  • Through sharing content on social media
  • By using share buttons on their content and getting shares from visitors
  • Through link building from other blogs, videos or websites.

Bloggers can also target their content specifically to people who are likely to be interested in their products. One strategy I use as a blogger is to find long tail keywords with low SEO difficulty. SEO means search engine optimisation. Optimising content for the search engines can give you more chance of ranking your content for free on the search engines. If you do this well, you can get free traffic! See also get traffic to your website FREE!

What Does An Affiliate Marketer Do? Work From Anywhere!

One of the main attractions to affiliate marketing is the ability to work from anywhere and become both financially and geographically free! Successful affiliates can earn money from their content and marketing, and earn a passive income which grows over time.

With recurring income affiliate programs, and through systems and automation, affiliates can generate an income which is unconnected to the hours they put in! To get to this stage takes some time and commitment though; but ultimately the path of affiliate marketing can give you a lot of freedom!

This means affiliates can create lives with a lot of freedom and flexibility. They don’t need employment and can ditch the commute, the boss and the job! Many affiliates decide to relocate to other countries because of the freedom they can achieve when their business becomes successful.

Using Paid Marketing

The affiliates who have less time often opt for using paid marketing to drive traffic into their sales funnel. This can be done through a number of platforms:

  • Bing
  • Yahoo
  • Google Adwords
  • Facebook
  • YouTube
  • etc.

With a paid marketing platform, the affiliate starts out with a small budget and tests out their sales funnel. By testing and measuring their marketing and driving traffic to a landing page, they can determine whether a particular marketing campaign is successful or not.

Once a marketing strategy is working, delivering a regular profit, it can be slowly scaled up. More budget is then spent daily to send more traffic towards their landing page. In the early days of testing, you should stick to a smaller budget to learn. But as you get more data, you can spend more; knowing that your sales funnel is profitable.

What Makes A Good Affiliate?

To become successful as an affiliate marketer you will need a lot of drive and focus. Ideally you will be good at working on your own and setting work schedules to keep you on track.

Affiliate marketing can give you a lot of freedom, but it does take some time and commitment to make it work. To put the necessary work in, you will need a big reason! Generally those who succeed are determined and driven. Often too, they are wanting to escape from difficult circumstances and create more time and financial freedom in their lives.

If this sounds like you, access a free video series here to learn more.

Summary

Affiliate marketing can take many different paths; there’s not a “one size fits all” approach. Some affiliates are good a blogging, but others prefer to use video. Some affiliates prefer to be anonymous and use email marketing and/or run paid advertising. If you have a lot of time, you can take the content marketing approach. If you work long hours, paid marketing will probably be a better approach.

Affiliate marketing is not for everyone, and many who attempt it give up. It can be tough. But it can also be hugely rewarding both personally and financially. Helping others to earn online is massively rewarding too – which is what some affiliates do too! Here’s a picture of a Q & A session, I attended, in which an affiliate coach is helping other affiliates.

How To Earn Money Through Blogging

If you’re wondering how to earn money through blogging, this one’s for you! Blogging is a great way to earn money once it starts working. But before you get to this point, there’s plenty of work to do. Ideally choose a blogging topic you would love to write about for a good, long time! If you choose a topic only for the money, you can easily give up way too soon when you’re having to come up with ideas for your blog.

Writing about a passion or a hobby you love is way easier than writing on a subject you know nothing about. So at least chose a topic you have an interest in if you want your blog to be successful.

How To Earn Money Through Blogging

Blogging is a slow strategy to make money from the internet. But it can be done if you put your back into it and have a long term focus. A blog will usually take some time to start generating traffic, depending on how you go about it. To turn that traffic into money is done through a couple of main strategies:

  • Affiliate marketing – align your blog with other people’s products which are a good match for your audience and topic.
  • Advertising – place adverts on your site and earn from the clicks. Google Adsense is a commonly used advertising program used by bloggers.

But the all important thing with a blog is getting that much needed traffic in the first place. With it, you won’t make a thing! You can get traffic to your blog in a number of ways but it all starts with your content. Once you have created content, you can create more and more. What you do with your content and how you put it together will have an impact on your results. But also, the topic you choose will too! Some topics are more competitive than others and your choice of topic will definitely have an impact on how much and how quickly you will attract an audience.

How To Earn Money Through Blogging – Content Creation

Your content is likely going to be the most important factor in generating income from blogging. If nobody likes your content, they are less likely to share it and tell others about it. Google, and the other search engines are less likely to rate it and give it authority. Then, it’s less likely to rank and get free traffic from the search engine optimisation (SEO). So everything starts with creating quality content which is useful for the reader.

To help you write SEO friendly content it’s useful to use an SEO plugin such as Yoast SEO. This can help you write content which is optimised for the search engines. Once you have created some content, you should also share it as much as possible. Don’t expect people to find your content unless you have promoted it. You can get a couple of plugins for your website to help this effort:

  • Revive old posts – is a post sharing plugin which automatically syndicates your posts to social media platforms.
  • Social media share icons – lets visitor easily share your content throughout social media platforms with a single click.

How To Earn Money Through Blogging – Long Tail Keywords

Another tool you can use to help write content which has less competition than most is through using Google’s free keyword planner. By finding long tail keywords on the planner which relate to your topic, you can more easily get your content listed on the search engines. To find long tail keywords with low SEO difficulty, type your main keywords into the planner and look for the less popular keywords which have less monthly views.

how to earn money through blogging

By comparing the shorter keyword phrases to the longer ones, you can determine which ones are a better bet to create content around. With certain keyword phrases, you can gain more attention from Google and other search engines once they pick up your content. Shorter more popular phrases tend to be much more competitive and as such you’ll have a harder time getting free traffic from them.

Using BuzzSumo For Article Titles

Buzzsumo.com is a useful resource too for bloggers and content marketers. With Buzzsumo.com, you can look for content ideas in your own specific niche and find those which are trending on the social media sites.

By creating content which mirrors the popular blog titles which perform well, you can “piggyback” on those successful articles and content which have already proved successful in terms of getting shared and going viral. Plus, you can also use content which does well to model your own content on.

Blogging For Profit – Email Marketing

Blogging is a great way to earn money but it can be tough at first. To monetise your website in the best possible way you should build an email list and offer affiliate products to your subscribers. Give away something useful to your blog visitors on your blog in exchange for their email address. Consider also use recurring income affiliate programs which give you an ongoing income from each sale. High ticket affiliate products are also a consideration too, but most importantly your choice of products should reflect the topic of your blog. If you offer products which aren’t aligned with your visitors interests, it’s unlikely you’ll sell anything!

An email list allows you to keep in touch with website visitors over a longer period of time. Trying to sell things directly from a website can be tough, because you only have a few minutes to win a customer over from a blog. But once they are on your email list, you can build a longer term relationship with your visitors and gain trust through providing value to them.

Affiliate Coaching

What can affiliate coaching do for you and is it worth the investment? If you’re interested in building a long term profitable affiliate business, a coach can make all the difference. There’s a number of reasons you should get a coach for help with your affiliate business:

  • Accountability – having someone to hold you accountable is massive for an online business. It’s far too easy to quit when things aren’t going the way you expect. A coach holds you to account and makes it harder to avoid the all important work.
  • Technical help – affiliate coaching can help you overcome technical issues such as tracking or running marketing campaigns.
  • Resources – an affiliate coach has already had the success you strive. They will be able to shortcut your journey by pointing you to the most valuable resources they have used themselves.
  • Mindset – is one of the most important aspects of success with an affiliate business – some would even say the “key”. Affiliate coaching can help you undercover your negative blockages to success, and the concepts you might hold in mind which stop you from moving forwards. (Self talk and limiting beliefs can be invisible to you, but very visible to your coach).
  • Belief – One of the main difficulties for beginners with affiliate marketing is getting beyond their own self doubts and negative beliefs. As Henry Ford famously said “Whether you believe you can or you cannot, you are right”!

Affiliate Coaching Program – My Story

Back in 2013 I was a struggling affiliate jumping from course to course. No matter how many courses I took, I just couldn’t seem to get anywhere with affiliate marketing. In 2014 I joined another affiliate program. But this was different because it offered affiliate coaching. You can access more information through this free video series, or join the community through the Mentors All In program here. You’ll get access to mentors and coaches, plus a “from scratch” online business system you can use.

Once I joined the program I was able to meet other affiliates and get more personal coaching. Here’s me at a local get-together organised through the community. This was in Chester in the UK.

Knowing others on the same journey was massive for me and my affiliate marketing business. It gave me much more confidence in what I was doing. I was able to meet up with founders of the company and other mentors and coaches through their various programs and trainings. Even at a basic level of membership, you can access coaches through various online groups.

Affiliate Coaching – Regular Meet Ups

During a regular weekly meet-up question and answer session

The regular weekly webinars allowed me to listen in or even ask questions which related to problems I was having personally. Although affiliate marketers do need to be resourceful and able to solve their own problems, I found this helped me enormously.

Just listening to the mindsets and mentality of online business leaders is massively useful. It helped me overcome my own doubts and take larger steps towards achieving the success I wanted from an online business.

I now run weekly coaching groups with another online business owner to help affiliates and answer their questions. We also have a Facebook group with our weekly webinar recordings in it. To join our weekly webinars and get access to recordings, just sign up for the Mentors All In program and you’ll get access.

You Can’t Do It All Alone! Why Coaching Matters

Affiliate coaching is important for a number of reasons. When I first started out, I thought I could do it all on my own! But time proved that this attitude was a mistake. I was full of doubt and scepticism and everything was a “scam”, even though I was desperate to make it work!

Being in a state or near constant fear isn’t good for an affiliate business. You need some assurance that you’re on the right path. Otherwise you can waste a huge amount of time. I did exactly that! Before getting the right help, I spent several years struggling as an affiliate. I jumped from one strategy to another and never got anywhere; having built many websites which did absolutely nothing. I would have scored 10 out of 10 for enthusiasm; but zero out of ten for know-how!

When I started again and focused on educating myself, things changed quite dramatically.

Get Educated and Keep Learning!

As an affiliate it’s therefore important to get educated and treat your affiliate education as the bedrock to build a profitable business from. As a teacher of mine once said, “you can’t build a skyscraper on the foundations of a cottage“. What I had when I started out doing affiliate marketing was the foundations of a cottage – all enthusiasm but no understanding.

A coach can bring you to a more correct understanding of how to go about building an affiliate business the right way. They can help you uncover some of your limiting beliefs and negative self talk which stands in the way. Plus they are able to point you to resources and people who have helped them personally on their own affiliate journey.

Why You Need A Digital Marketing Coach

There’s a number of reasons why you need a digital marketing coach when starting an online business. For one, a coach will keep you accountable and on track with your marketing strategy and with moving your online business forwards.

Without a coach, it can be easier to quit, or decide for some reason that your strategy is a bad one. As you start out using digital marketing to promote your business, or someone else’s, there’s a large learning curve. You don’t always hit a home run straight away. This can be a very frustrating period and it’s easy to become doubtful or even quit altogether. This is a mistake though because once you are able to run profitable campaigns, you have a skill for life. With an online business it also means you can be profitable from anywhere!

digital marketing coach

A good digital marketing coach should know the pitfalls of the early days of running marketing campaigns. They should know also how to run campaigns with an understanding of your personal financial situation and to use a budget you can afford to lose in the first instance.

Don’t think of losing money as burning money though! Because you’ll be gaining experience and more importantly getting data to learn from. Think of paid marketing as a data harvesting exercise. The more data you acquire, the more you’ll know about marketing.

Digital Marketing Coach – Strategies For Marketing Online

One of the best ways to learn digital marketing is through starting an online affiliate business. You can access an all-in one program here which offers a digital sales funnel you can promote. You can also access marketing coaches and mentors through this program. Once set up with your digital sales funnel, you’ll need to learn how to market it. This can be done in many ways including paid marketing, organic marketing, using social media accounts and various combinations of these strategies.

One of the best ways to use digital marketing is through running paid campaigns. Adwords, Facebook and YouTube are three of the most popular platforms, but there are many others too. Digital marketing is a broad topic and you can also use organic methods of online promotion. Blogging, or video marketing are two such methods.

digital marketing coach

By creating a lot of written or video content you can build an audience which finds your content organically, without using paid marketing. However, this is a much slower option than with paid marketing strategies. It can take months or even years to build enough content to make an impact on your business. With paid marketing, it can happen more quickly depending on your business model and marketing budget.

Mindset Problems With Digital Marketing

Digital marketing can be counter intuitive. Often, old programming teaches us to avoid spending money and save; to live frugally. If you have such a mindset, you can easily find digital marketing a challenge. With digital marketing, you should expect to spend some money initially, with paid marketing campaigns. It can appear as if you’re losing money and getting nothing for it, which can trigger the “fight or flight” response for many!

Many businesses make the mistake of scrapping their digital marketing campaigns when they don’t see any return. But initially you should be looking for data. Once you learn what advertisements work, you can keep them running and even increase budget. Those which don’t work can be scaled back or stopped. At first this can be difficult because you’ll generally need to run a few campaigns before you know which work and which don’t.

digital marketing coach

As you get better at this, you should be able to leave good campaigns running and steadily increase your budget to generate more profit. This is counterintuitive if you are programmed to spend little and be frugal.

Ultimately with a marketing campaign which is returning a profit, you’ll want to be in a position to start increasing your budget – spend more money, to make more money. This is very difficult to achieve with a poverty mindset of frugality. However, you would only increase your budget on a profitable campaign. Initially, you should spend what you can afford to lose learning how to find profitable campaigns!

Mindset & Online Business

the e myth revisited
Michael Gerber’s book The E-Myth Revisited is a great read if you’re learning digital marketing and online business.

In Michael Gerber’s book The E-Myth Revisited, he talks about shifting from an employee mindset to an entrepreneurial mindset and how one can hold the other back. As an employee moving to an entrepreneurial endeavour such as digital marketing, it can be easy to bring your old mindsets with you.

If you do they can very well hold you back, especially if you have a number of assumptions about working on your own business. A digital marketing coach can help you become more aware of these kinds of assumptions which can keep you stuck in old mindsets and not moving forwards.

An example Gerber uses in his book is an employee bringing his skillset from an employee position and trying to make it work as an entrepreneur. However, those skills which work in a 9 to 5, don’t always translate to digital marketing and online business. You have to un-learn old assumptions and habits in order to re-learn the new skill to move forwards.

Affiliate Marketing Coaching Program

Back in 2014 I found an affiliate marketing coaching program which helped me to build a sustainable income online. I was able to meet up with other affiliate marketers in person – something which I’d never done before. Back in 2014, the affiliate courses I took were all online. There was never a sniff of anyone who would show up in person!

Since 2019 and the global pandemic, meeting in person has become more difficult of course. But the company I joined still runs today and have re-focused their training and mentoring programs to offer more value online; in light of the limits being put on physical events. So if you’re looking for an affiliate marketing coaching program, you can start here!

Affiliate Marketing Coaching Program

Access a free video series through clicking on the image below. You’ll meet my personal mentor Stuart who will explain some of the main affiliate marketing business models you can use to earn from.

affiliate marketing coaching program

In the free video series Stuart will explain some of the best ways to earn online. In particular, using high ticket affiliate programs and subscription affiliate programs can give you a big head start as an affiliate. With many products, you have to generate thousands of sales in order to make a living. But with the right business model, you don’t need to work as hard; because you can earn ongoing commissions from recurring payments and higher commissions from the larger valued items you promote.

Stuart is also the co-founder of Mentors or SFM (Six Figure Mentors) coaching and mentoring program for affiliate marketers and online business owners. Stuart Ross and Jay Kubassek founded the company in 2010 and have helped thousands of people replace their existing incomes and become full time internet entrepreneurs.

Affiliate Marketing Coaching Program – What SFM Offers

SFM offers coaching and mentoring for anyone wanting to learn how to build an affiliate business from scratch. The SFM has a step by step training program which can allow anyone to build a digital product range and promote it online. The SFM recently partnered with Linkedin learning also and offers over 10,000 of their courses in conjunction with their Mentors All in program.

The SFM Back Office – Getting Started

Once you join Mentors All In, (access here), you’ll get access to the SFM back office. Here you’ll be able to set up your online business system including products and marketing funnel. This is broken down into multiple steps in order to allow you to progress at your own rate.

the sfm back office

Once you have set up your product range and marketing funnel, you’ll need to choose a method of marketing your landing pages. You’ll have access to a number of trainings and events which are available through the resources in the back office. You’ll also be able to access live trainings too, and learn from other members as well as coaches and mentors in the community.

Setting Expectations

Anyone can now learn how to build an online business from scratch from anywhere. But not everyone has the same experience when it comes to generating results from an online business. In fact the failure rate for affiliate marketing is pretty high. In part this is because the barrier to entry is so low. If you needed a huge loan, employees and a business premises to start an online business, there would be far less people attempting it.

But because the intake rate is very high, this also means the drop out rate is high too! Something like 3% of online businesses will actually continue and become profitable. So it’s important to know that a “get rich mentality” won’t do you any favours. If you expect it to be easy, you are probably not going to sustain the necessary effort it takes to succeed.

That being said, with the right training, tools and more importantly mindset, you can build a sustainable income from the internet if you’re determined to succeed. You need to bring your best “whatever it takes” attitude to your online business too; even with the help and resources available through online training.

Affiliate Marketing Mentor

Before finding an affiliate marketing mentor, my affiliate journey was a struggle. It didn’t change overnight and I still struggled, but a mentor helped me gain clarification and stop wasting so much time. Here’s some of the things I learned from getting an affiliate marketing mentor.

Affiliate Marketing Mentor

It’s easy to make a lot of mistakes as an affiliate marketer when you’re starting out. I spent a huge amount of time on all the wrong activities. Much of my focus was wasted because I didn’t understand where I should be putting the bulk of my time. I spent time making websites look good, rather than getting visitors. I spent time worrying and procrastinating because I didn’t know what to do. Time was also wasted jumping from one course to another, looking for the “easier” path, which of course didn’t really exist!

affiliate marketing mentor

Once I found an affiliate marketing mentor, much of this distraction was gone. I knew what to do and how to do it, I just had to put in the work! This made things much simpler. Here’s a couple of the main pitfalls for affiliate marketers:

  • Shiny object syndrome – jumping from one strategy to another, and not getting any traction with any because of lack of focus. I did this for years, attempting Forex marketing, eBay buying and selling, and jumping in and out of many “make money online” courses!
  • Being a busy fool – Working on your own volition is difficult if you don’t have discipline. You work on things which are enjoyable rather than what is necessary. You can get distracted by so many things like social media, friends and family and phone calls. Even the work you are actually doing may not move your online business forwards!

Affiliate Marketing Mentor – Accountability

An affiliate marketing mentor can give you more accountability in your business. This is so important for anyone attempting something alone. On your own, you can always let yourself off the hook.

But once you are being held accountable, it’s more difficult to give up or drop out. Affiliate marketing isn’t easy and there will be times where you want to quit, or you just don’t believe in what you’re doing, or yourself. This is where it is useful to be connected to someone like an affiliate marketing coach or mentor.

On your own, you will probably not only have your own demons to fight, but likely also friends and family trying to persuade you to quit too! See why your friends and family don’t want you to succeed.

If you have been working for months as an affiliate with nothing to show for it, your belief and enthusiasm will definitely wane. But if you have others who are on the same journey, you can connect and reassure each other!

Affiliate Marketing Mentor – Belief

Belief that you can earn a living from affiliate marketing is pretty important. If you’re a newcomer to affiliate marketing, you are probably full of enthusiasm! But if you’ve been struggling this can soon die out! You need to keep reminding yourself of what a successful affiliate business can give you. Write out a list of your reasons for doing it. Here’s a short list I write out to remind myself why I’m working as an affiliate, for when I lose my enthusiasm:

  • Success with affiliate marketing means I’ll never need a job again
  • I’ll never have to work for a boss, again
  • Or commute, ever!
  • And I can live anywhere and earn an uncapped income
  • Financial freedom, time freedom and geographical freedom!

Nobody can give you the belief in yourself which you will need to overcome the hurdles for success with an affiliate business. But mentors can point you in the right direction. Self help books and books on self esteem and mental clarity have helped me. You need to keep feeding your positive intentions and avoid negative influences in order to stay the course and succeed with affiliate marketing.

Shifting From Employee to Entrepreneur

Affiliate marketers are self employed entrepreneurs. It’s a different kettle of fish to working as an employee. Employees get paid for turning up, affiliates don’t! Affiliates get rewarded for sales so if they don’t make any, they don’t get paid.

As an affiliate you can’t take a back seat like you potentially can in employment. The work which makes you a good employee, doesn’t make you a good affiliate! It can be easy to misunderstand this relationship towards work and fall into patterns of behaviour which serve you in employment, but not in entrepreneurialism.
